What is your plan to tackle desertification affecting farmland in arid and semi-arid regions?
Desertification is something I take seriously, especially for semi-arid and arid regions prone to rapid deforestation. I have said we have to be deliberate with efforts to preserve our environment in these areas. That is why I kicked off a tree planting drive at Unity House in Jada, as part of this push. This is the kind of effort I am committed to carrying forward to community farmlands.

Answer: My strategy is to build master drainage systems in flood-prone areas, modernize municipal solid waste recycling, and channel Ecological Fund resources directly into local erosion control and sanitation programmes.
Q12: Many communities depend on wells that dry up during the dry season. What is your plan for sustainable year-round water supply, particularly in rural areas? Answer: My administration will focus on deep-aquifer drilling, rainwater harvesting infrastructure, and small earth dams to store water for year-round domestic and agricultural use. Q13: We don't have reliable electricity in our community despite having poles and repeated promises. How will you make sure electricity actually reaches underserved communities? Answer: My plan is to move power distribution and generation off the exclusive federal list, empowering states and off-grid developers to directly connect and supply electricity to underserved areas.

It is important for political leaders across the country, especially Lagos State, to desist from actions that promote election violence, such that can compromise peace, unity and democracy in our country.
I am concerned about how lackeys of political leaders in Lagos State have unabatedly made ethnic slurs aimed at intimidating voters in the state in tomorrow's election.
I have watched with profound disdain a certain video in circulation where some persons known to be associates of the leaders of the ruling party in Lagos State are issuing threats against other ethnic groups in the build up to the Governorship and State House of Assembly election
in the state tomorrow.
I condemn this uncivilised behaviour and also condemn the criminal silence of the security agencies and the political leadership in Lagos State and Abuja on this development.
Every democracy is as virile as the culture of the electoral system that governs it. The democracy that we fought for and operate in Nigeria thrives on the principle of free and equal participation.

It is with great adulation to God and a heart full of gratitude that I join other patriots to welcome Nigerians to the New Year 2024.
The past year was definitely a challenging year, but the lessons that we took away from it are what should prepare us for the future that the New Year holds.
It is my belief that one of the reasons the Almighty created time and season is for us to take stock of our realities and effect necessary amends.
Certainly, many families and businesses already know the intensity of the trying times that we are currently going through - though we could have taken a completely different pathway, had the government been smarter with their policy prescriptions.
The rising cost of food items, goods and services, the malfunction in our national economy and the degenerating state of our national and community security are all existential challenges that we have to face squarely in the New Year.

Three, the Federal Government must provide a full and transparent public account of every Naira spent outside the official budget, identifying every project, every contractor, every procurement process followed, and every individual who authorised and benefited from these transactions.
Four, the Federal Government must immediately restore to state governments the ₦800 billion unlawfully deducted from their statutory allocations and provide a complete account of how those funds were deployed.
Five, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, and every relevant law enforcement and anti-corruption agency must open formal investigations into both the unrecorded expenditures and the unlawful deductions from state allocations, independent of any political direction from the Presidency.
Six, Nigeria's civil society, the professional community, the business sector, and the international community, particularly the international financial institutions whose credibility is implicated when their findings are ignored, must respond to this disclosure with the urgency it demands.

2. Strengthen fiscal federalism and revenue allocation. We will reform the revenue-sharing system to give states a greater share of national resources and stronger incentives to develop their local economies. ● Expand and strengthen the derivation principle to include solid minerals and hydropower, ensuring producing states benefit more directly
3. Devolve powers to states for more effective governance. We will move key responsibilities from the Exclusive Legislative List to the Concurrent and residual levels, allowing states to take greater control over critical sectors. ● Transfer greater authority to states in areas such as policing, prisons, and railways ● Decentralize control over mines, minerals, oil fields, and natural gas, with clear national standards and safeguards ● Allow states to manage areas such as business registration, drugs and narcotics control, and criminal identification systems ●
