I have been inundated with calls from our party members, supporters, and concerned Nigerians regarding the fabricated story in The Nation, Tinubu's ragtag, alleging my departure from the @OfficialPDPNig. Let me be unequivocal: this is pure mischief, devoid of truth. I reaffirm my unwavering loyalty to the PDP while advocating the swift merger of opposition parties. The urgency of this consolidation cannot be overstated. Tinubu's relentless pursuit of personal agendas at the expense of national governance is glaring. His myopic focus on 2027 betrays a disregard for the pressing needs of the populace. It's high time he ceased his bumbling escapades and prioritised the welfare of the people. My media team is vigorously countering his baseless claims. Let this be a wake-up call to all: the pursuit of power must not overshadow the imperative of effective governance. Together, let us propel Nigeria forward, leaving behind the antics of political charlatans. -AA

The local government election conducted by the occupation government in Rivers State is an awful absurdity and a travesty to the very notion of elective democracy. By the shameful and shambolic manner in which the occupation government went ahead to conduct local government elections in RiversState, it is clear that the ruling APC party is not leaving anyone in doubt that it is prepared to throw caution to the wind in order to achieve an inordinate political advantage. It therefore becomes necessary to call the attention of well-meaning Nigerians. international community and all friends and partners of Nigeria to the dangerous curve that the President Bola Tinubu regime is taking our dear country. I will also call on all opposition parties in Rivers State to reject the local government election on the premise that the occupation government that conducted the exercise is extraneous to our laws, with absolutely no legitimacy to undertake such a crucial and sensitive assignment.

President Tinubu and his administration must resist any temptation to turn institutions of the Nigerian state into instruments of partisan advantage. The police belong to Nigeria. The military belongs to Nigeria. INEC belongs to the Nigerian people. None of them belongs to the APC. And let nobody misunderstand our demand for peaceful elections as weakness. We are asking only for what the Constitution and democracy guarantee every Nigerian: the freedom to vote and the right to have that vote count. If our institutions cannot conduct a free, fair, peaceful and transparent election in one state, Nigerians will legitimately ask what confidence they should have in the general election next year. The world is watching Osun. Nigerians are watching. History is taking notes. So my message to INEC, the security agencies and the Tinubu administration is simple: Let the people vote. Let every vote count.

“If Boko Haram had killed these Nigerians, the government would rightly blame Boko Haram. If bandits had killed them, it would blame bandits. But this was neither Boko Haram nor a bandit attack. These citizens died under the direct watch of the Tinubu-led APC government. “The state arrested them. The state transported them. The state detained them. The state controlled the facility and assumed responsibility for their welfare. The state cannot now run away from their deaths. “There is an even deeper tragedy. With education, opportunity and modest start-up capital, these young Nigerians could have become innovators, entrepreneurs and job creators. They could have supported their families, transformed their communities and contributed meaningfully to Nigeria’s development. “Instead, the unemployment, poverty and hopelessness deepened by the Tinubu administration drove many young Nigerians into dangerous and unlawful mining simply to survive. This government denied them opportunity in life; poverty drove them into the pits; government agents arrested them there; and now their families have received corpses and excuses.

“Until the Tinubu administration provides a credible and independently verifiable explanation, Nigerians are entitled to suspect criminal negligence, abuse of power and a possible cover-up. “The blood of these young Nigerians will continue to cry out for justice until the truth is told and everyone responsible is held accountable. Their blood cannot be silenced by propaganda, their deaths cannot be buried beneath bureaucracy, and their lives cannot be cancelled with press releases. “Thirty-seven lives mattered. Thirty-seven families are grieving. Thirty-seven Nigerians entered government custody alive and never returned home. “Suspensions are not justice. Propaganda is not an explanation. Silence is not accountability. Tinubu cannot look away, Alake cannot propagandise his way out of responsibility, and Tunji-Ojo cannot wash his hands of deaths recorded under an agency he supervises. “We will not accept scapegoats. We will not accept excuses. We will not accept a government investigating itself merely to clear itself.

“‘Tinubu Must Go’ is a demand for political change. It is not a weapon, a threat or a crime. President Tinubu can disagree with those words. He can campaign against them. He cannot make people disappear into custody for wearing them.” Atiku called on the authorities to disclose the detainees’ whereabouts, grant them immediate access to their families and lawyers, and release them if the slogan is the basis for their arrest. “Tinubu was free to tell Jonathan that his policies were hurting Nigerians. Nigerians must be free to tell Tinubu that his policies are hurting them. Release these five citizens now.” Phrank Shaibu Director of Strategic Communication ADC Presidential Campaign Council 30 September 2026
