Q6: Farmers produce food, but bad roads, poor market access and post-harvest losses mean produce either spoils or becomes expensive before reaching consumers. How will you solve this? Answer: My administration will prioritize farm-to-market rural feeder roads under public-private partnerships, establish regional agro-processing zones near farming clusters, and deploy off-grid solar cold-storage facilities to eliminate post-harvest spoilage. Q7: Fertilizer and other farming inputs are too expensive. How will you make farming more affordable and profitable for farmers? Answer: My policy deploys a direct e-wallet input delivery system to provide subsidized fertilizers, high-yield seeds, and pest protection directly to verified smallholders, bypassing middlemen while expanding low-interest agricultural loans via the Bank of Agriculture. Q8: Nigeria has large areas of agricultural land but still imports significant amounts of food. What is your plan for increasing domestic food production and food security? Answer: My strategy expands large-scale irrigation systems (dams and boreholes) for year-round farming, encourages commercial agriculture alongside smallholder development, and deploys Agro-Rangers to secure farmland against attacks.

Q15: Many rural communities are far from the national grid. What role will solar, mini-grids and other alternative energy sources play in providing them with electricity? Answer: I would make solar mini-grids that will serve as the primary power source for off-grid communities, supported by zero import tariffs on solar components and capital subsidies for renewable energy providers. Q16: Nigeria has invested in many power projects but electricity remains unreliable. What will you do differently, and how will you ensure abandoned or delayed electricity projects are completed? Answer: My administration will audit all stalled power projects, convert viable uncompleted assets into public-private concessions, and enforce strict anti-corruption oversight on all energy contracts. Q17: Bad rural roads prevent people from reaching farms, markets, schools and hospitals, especially during the rainy season. How will you improve rural roads and connectivity? Answer: I plan to expand the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) using matching federal-state funds to pave critical farm-to-market feeder roads.

The Northern Development Project (NDP) in Abuja was pursuing many things, but focusing on agriculture. Experts in agriculture were brought together to re-formulate a new agricultural policy and made direct input into the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. The focus was to multiply yields, fix agricultural value chains, and address the issues of climate change.
We then turned our attention to industries. We took a survey of all northern industries, establishing the production status and the enduring challenges. It is worth sharing some of the major obstacles: energy poverty, finance, access to raw materials, and multiple taxation. Amazingly, two decades later, we appear still to be where we were. We held a series of meetings between the NEPA, then the only source of energy, and our Northern manufacturers, in Kaduna, negotiating to have more electricity to our industries to boost production and provide jobs for young people. The records of all these should be with the NDP.

We will introduce a capped, budgeted production subsidy tied to verified fuel refined in Nigeria, including fuel from modular refineries. Imported petrol will not qualify. The benefit must reach consumers through lower pump prices. We will publish the costs, independently audit the payments and cut government waste to help fund the programme.
The principle is simple: produce here, refine here, create jobs here and pay less here. If Bola disagrees, he should answer the proposal on its merits. Calling relief an addiction will not lower the price of petrol.
Bola, your speech is full of “we will.” We will make farming cheaper. We will power factories. We will create jobs. We will bring down prices. You have been President for more than three years. Nigerians are entitled to ask what you have done with the time already given to you.
You say that when farmers produce more cheaply and manufacturers spend less on electricity, prices will fall. Of course they will. But farmers and manufacturers are telling you that they cannot produce cheaply now. A farmer who cannot safely reach his field cannot wait for your theory of cheaper food. A factory paying more to keep its machines running cannot wait for another promise of industrial growth.

Party Manifesto 2027-2031 2026-10-05 ›
● Unlock climate and green finance by building structured funding pipelines that attract green bonds, carbon market investments, and development partner financing, while improving Nigeria's capacity to absorb and effectively deploy climate funds. ● Boost agricultural productivity and food supply by scaling climate-smart agriculture.
1.6. AGRICULTURE The ADC will:
1. Make food security a national security priority, recognizing that a nation that cannot feed itself is a nation at risk. ● We will elevate food security to the National Security Council agenda ● We will align federal, state, and local government strategies under a unified national framework ● We will establish strategic reserves and emergency systems by building and maintaining national and regional food reserves, developing rapid response mechanisms for food shocks and price volatility, and coordinating humanitarian and social protection responses ● We will strengthen the linkages between farmers, processors, and markets; improve rural-urban logistics and transport infrastructure; and support agro-processing zones and local value addition ● We will increase Nigeria's agricultural mechanization to significantly improve productivity

● Support farmers through targeted investment in inputs, mechanization, extension services, and market access - matching the right policy tools to the needs of different categories of farmers ● Put into use the abandoned water dams across federal, state, and local levels to enable year-round farming for smallholder farmers ● Develop the entire agricultural value chain to enhance productivity, reduce post-harvest losses, and invest in aggregation centres, warehouses, and cold chain systems
3. Stabilize food prices and protect Nigerians from food inflation. We will take targeted and coordinated action to reduce food price volatility, protect households from sudden spikes, and ensure stable and affordable food supply across the country. ● Build and maintain a transparent strategic grain reserves release system to stabilize supply and release food into the market during shortages ● Strengthen market monitoring systems to track food prices in real time and enable early government response ● Coordinate with states and the private sector to ensure efficient distribution of food during supply shocks
