Ask Atiku Abubakar — Official Citizen Engagement Platform

Assalamu alaikum sir, may Allah guide and protect you amen, sir my question how are you going to tackle the massive crude oil theft of 20 million barrel per day, that the expatriate, politicians and members of all the security forces conniving to defraud nigerians ? Thanks and God bless you 🙏

On tackling crude oil theft, my approach is to treat securing our national oil and gas assets as being just as important as securing the lives and property of Nigerians. I am not comfortable with a situation where government commits tens of trillions of Naira to the security of oil assets while the lives of Nigerians, who are the powerbase of our economy's productivity, are left behind.

My plan is to enhance our national security protocols broadly, by strengthening law enforcement through recruiting more manpower and deploying advanced technology to deal with all dimensions of criminality, which includes oil theft.
