Ayyukan aiki miliyoyi kai tsaye da kuma a kaikaice za a ƙirƙira ta wannan sir.
Yes, job creation is central to what I have set out for you.
My policy focuses on private-sector-led growth, targeting up to 3 million jobs annually for graduates and young Nigerians.
I also proposed a $10 billion economic stimulus programme, using the savings from subsidy removal, designed to create millions of jobs across agriculture, manufacturing, technology, and infrastructure. That plan was meant to lift millions out of poverty, give targeted support to the most vulnerable, and ignite the kind of economic activity that grows the tax base organically, so that the pain of subsidy removal gave way to renewal of opportunity and employment.
On the digital economy, I am determined to prepare you for the jobs of the future by investing in digital skills, innovation, and technology-driven education. This means supporting tech hubs and innovation centres across the country, building digital skills, coding, and technology training into education systems, training in fields like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data science, and partnering with private companies and global technology firms to expand access to training and employment.
To back small businesses as job creators, I will push for tax reductions or credits for small businesses based on how many employees they hire and retain, temporary tax relief for startups and small businesses in their early years, and payroll tax incentives for businesses that expand their workforce. I also want to bring informal businesses into the formal economy by making it beneficial, not burdensome, through tax amnesty or grace periods for those that register, and by making sure newly formalized businesses are not immediately overburdened with taxes.
And on production itself: we choose Nigerian jobs. Subsidise Nigerian production, not foreign importation. Produce here. Refine here. Create jobs here. Pay less here. That is the production subsidy model I stand behind.
