Assalamu Alaikum Dear sir Our president insha'allah we want you to refund the subsidy, my question is how you will find job for youth thank for listening me sir.
Wa alaikum assalam, and thank you for writing to me.
On subsidy, let me be clear about what I am proposing. I am not bringing back the old subsidy on imported fuel. I am restoring a subsidy that supports crude refined here in Nigeria. This means government support goes to Nigerian refining, not to paying for fuel brought in from outside. The goal is that our refineries produce at lower cost, so you pay less at the pump, and that support actually translates into lower prices for you, not waste.
This is bigger than fuel for me. I want the bus fare you pay every morning to come down. I want the cost of moving food from farm to market to come down. I want the trader, the barber, the tailor, the welder, the small business owner, to spend less on energy to run their work.
On jobs for our youth, here is my covenant with you. It starts with jobs and enterprise. I know Nigeria has millions of young people with ideas, energy and ambition, but too many cannot get the capital to turn those ideas into businesses. I am determined to expand transparent access to finance for young entrepreneurs, artisans, farmers, technology founders and people working in the creative economy. Your surname, your connections, or whether you can find a godfather, should not decide whether your idea gets a chance. As part of this, we will put in place a financing programme for start-ups and entrepreneurs, so you can move from dependence to enterprise, from unemployment to productivity.
Education also has to change to back this up. Our schools must place greater emphasis on science, technology, vocational education, agriculture, digital skills, critical thinking and entrepreneurship, so no brilliant Nigerian child is denied the chance to learn simply because his or her parents are poor.
And on the subsidy side itself, supporting fuel refined in Nigeria is also about creating Nigerian jobs, because when our refineries produce more, it is Nigerians who are employed to do it.
