Do you support Sharia Law and what limits should it have within Nigeria’s constitutional system? Atiku Abubakar: Answers to questions from the public 2026-10-05 ›
Question: Do you support Sharia Law and what limits should it have within Nigeria’s constitutional system?
Answer: Of course, as a Muslim, I believe in the Sharia Law. However, its application within the Nigerian society, being a multi-religious entity, should be limited to customary law interpretation and only be applicable when the disputing parties adopt the Sharia Law as a mutual framework for adjudication.
