Ask Atiku Abubakar — Official Citizen Engagement Platform

How will you bring down the cost of moving goods and people around Nigeria?

Once we restore a targeted fuel subsidy and bring down the cost of fuel, we expect transportation costs to fall significantly. Lower transport costs will also reduce the cost of moving food and other essential goods across the country, helping to ease the cost-of-living burden on Nigerian families. I will also fix logistics and transport bottlenecks to lower the cost of moving goods and people. This means shifting heavy cargo from roads to rail and waterways, which reduces congestion and road damage, and building rail links connecting ports, industrial zones and agricultural hubs. I will also develop logistics hubs and depots outside major cities to ease urban congestion, and improve rural roads so farmers can reach markets more easily.
