Honours
In 1982, at the unusually young age of 36, Atiku was appointed to the enviable position of Turaki Adamawa, a position of honour, and a position of high responsibility. Since then accolades have been bestowed on him from various monarchs across the six geo-political zones of the country. He holds the following titles:
• Waziri of Adamawa (Adamawa Emirate)
• Zege Mule U Tiv (Tiv Nation, Benue State), "Great Shelter of the Tiv Nation", conferred on 27 May 2001
• Sardauna of Ganye (Adamawa State)
• Maiyedero of Lagos
• Ekwueme of Anambra
• Atayese of Ijeshaland
• Zanna Zantaelma of Borno
• Zanna Kawaskima of Yobe
• Shettima of Biu (Borno State)
• Suka of Ogoniland
• Unuamani of Adamawa
• Baagbile of Oke Ona Egba, Egbaland
• Omekaojuora of Igbuzo
• Otun Balogun of Mopaland
• Nwanne Di na Mba of Ngor-Okpala (Imo State)
• Enyioha Ndigbo
In June 2017, he was elevated Waziri Adamawa, second in command only to the Lamido of Adamawa; the Waziri is one of the highest offices of the Adamawa Emirate and a senior kingmaker. On becoming Waziri he relinquished the title of Turaki Adamawa, which passed to his son, Aliyu.
Rotary International and the National Peace Corps Association of the United States have recognised the former Vice President for matching his passion with his purse. In 2011, the National Peace Corps Association made him the first recipient of its Harris Wofford Global Citizen Award, for his contribution to democracy and to higher education in Africa. "No private business man in Africa has worked harder for democracy or contributed more to higher education than Atiku Abubakar," his citation read. The Supreme Court’s decision represents a significant victory for the people of Bauchi, Plateau, Akwa Ibom, and Zamfara states and is undeniably a triumph for constitutional democracy.
I extend my congratulations to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, @Kyusufabba, of Kano State of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on his commendable legal victory. This moment also provides an excellent opportunity to restate my commitment to the idea that a unified opposition is crucial for strengthening democracy in Nigeria. I am more ready than ever to lead this endeavour, working alongside our esteemed leaders and governors for the betterment of our nation.
The Supreme Court's ruling ensures the continuation of the high standards of governance that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has established in these states.
I call upon Governors @SenBalaMohammed of Bauchi, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Barr. Caleb Muftwang of Plateau, and Pastor @_PastorUmoEno of Akwa Ibom to view their Supreme Court victories as chances to further solidify and broaden the impressive governance they have already been providing.

Today, I paid a condolence visit to the Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, over the recent loss of his beloved mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi-Umar. I pray that Allah expands her grave and shines His light on her face in the Last Day. Ameen. -AA

The Constitutional Violations
1.Illegal Removal of a Governor and State Assembly
The Nigerian Constitution does not empower the President to remove an elected Governor, Deputy Governor, or State Assembly under any circumstances. The procedure for removing a Governor is clearly outlined in Section 188 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) through an impeachment process initiated by the State House of Assembly—not by presidential proclamation.
2.Misuse of Section 305 on State of Emergency
Section 305 of the Constitution allows the President to declare a State of Emergency only in extreme cases where public safety, national security, or Nigeria’s sovereignty is at serious risk. However, it does not grant him the power to suspend elected officials or to demolish democratic structures as is currently being attempted.
Furthermore, Section 305(1) states that any proclamation of emergency is subject to the provisions of the Constitution—meaning it cannot override the tenure and removal procedures of a Governor.

Last night, I met with former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, in his residence in Abuja. We discussed extensively on the state of the nation and how we can all collaborate to redeem the current situation. -AA

With large swathes of the country still under siege from unrelenting insecurity and thousands of innocent lives lost, it is deeply unfortunate that President Bola Tinubu has not, for once, found it worthy to visit any of the affected states to commiserate with the grieving citizens.
Today, however, the President suddenly remembered Plateau State, one of the most terrorized parts of the North Central, not to share in the people’s pain, but to attend a social event under the auspices of his party’s national chairman.
It is a sad reflection of priorities and a glaring mockery of leadership that while families in Plateau continue to bury their loved ones, President Tinubu chose to grace a political funeral rather than stand with the people in their darkest hour.
Between the APC National Chairman and his President, what we witnessed today is a heartless exhibition of disregard for empathy, compassion, and the dignity of human life.
