We cannot hope to tax our way out of the economic quagmire wrought by these misguided experimental policies of a novice administration. Numerous nations, such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Monaco (an EU territory with a zero-income tax policy), among many others, have emerged as economic powerhouses by fostering growth through lower taxation. Why then are we fixated on inflicting further hardship upon an already struggling populace?
One can only speculate that Tinubu’s government is anchored to a mere Tea-plan, which can only lead to a T-pain.
Furthermore, let me emphasize that the citizens who cast their votes in the 2023 presidential election are well aware that I did not lose; rather, we find ourselves in this predicament because the election was criminally stolen from the Nigerian people. -AA

When President Bola Ahmed Tinubu hastily and thoughtlessly removed fuel subsidy on the day of his inauguration, he triggered an economic avalanche that has since buried the average Nigerian under the weight of inflation, hunger, and despair.
In a bid to manage the self-inflicted crisis, the administration promised to pay a wage award to federal civil servants as a temporary cushion pending the conclusion of negotiations on a new national minimum wage. That promise, like many others under this government, has become a broken covenant.
It took the Tinubu administration a staggering 10 months to arrive at a new minimum wage figure. By implication, the Federal Government owes 10 months of wage award arrears to federal workers. Yet, only six months have been paid and that too after a series of unfulfilled assurances and avoidable delays. As of today, the Federal Government owes four months of wage awards, amounting to ₦35,000 monthly, a total of ₦140,000 per worker.

On the question of subsidy, my position has not changed and will not change: I will restore it! A nation as blessed as ours has no business abandoning its citizens to hardship. Nigeria is rich enough to look after her own.
I believe the wealth of a nation is not measured by how much government collects, but by how much the money in the pockets of its people can buy.
I want wages to have value again. I want farmers to move produce without transport swallowing their profits. I want families to fill their baskets without emptying their pockets. I want businesses to produce, employ and prosper.
That is why I will restore targeted subsidy and put purchasing power back in the hands of Nigerians.
When fuel rises, transport rises. When transport rises, food rises. When food rises, families suffer.
I will break that wretched chain that has defined our national life in the nearly four years of Tinubu’s presidency.

BOLA TINUBU CALLS IT PROSPERITY BUT NIGERIANS CAN BARELY AFFORD TO LIVE
Being the text of speech delivered by His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, GCON,Waziri Adamawa, Vice President of Nigeria (1999-2007), and African Democratic Congress’ Presidential Candidate for the 2027 General Elections in Nigeria, on the occasion of Nigeria's 66th Independence Anniversary on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the African Democratic Congress Headquarters, Abuja.
My fellow Nigerians,
Sixty-six years after independence, millions of Nigerians are fighting for things a free country should never put beyond their reach: food on the table, a wage that lasts the month, and a safe journey home. The past three years under Bola Tinubu have plunged Nigeria into the most severe cost of living crisis in our history. Families are not merely tightening their belts. They are skipping meals, delaying treatment and borrowing to survive until payday.

We will reduce excessive spending. ● We will review and begin implementing the Oronsaye Report within the first 100 days of an ADC administration. ● Introduce a clear and public cap on the number of executive and legislative appointments at federal, state, and local levels. ● Digitize public service across all levels of government ● Cut down on all non-essential government-funded travel
