On helping families displaced from Damboa return home, my plan covers every part of Nigeria facing this situation, and it works the same way everywhere. Before any organized return of civilians begins, security forces will first clear and secure the affected region, and then establish permanent Forward Operating Bases and civil protection posts there. That security presence comes first, so that resettlement happens into communities that are genuinely held, not just cleared and left.

Once that foundation is in place, returning families will receive support to rebuild their lives: rebuilding grants, basic household assets, starter seeds and tools, and micro-loans. Basic health centers and schools will also be restored immediately, so that families coming home are not returning to villages without care or education for their children.

Q24: How will you prevent farmer-herder disputes from becoming ethnic or religious conflicts, and what role should federal, state and community authorities play in resolving them? Answer: My policy enforces strict rule of law by treating violent crimes as criminal acts regardless of ethnicity, assigning intelligence to federal agencies, operational policing to states, and early- warning dispute resolution to community authorities. Q25: Kidnapping, terrorism and armed attacks have affected communities in places such as Zamfara, Borno and other parts of Nigeria for years. What will you do differently to make these communities safe? Answer: I am advocating for constitutional restructuring to allow State and Local Community Policing, expanding security force recruitment, deploying advanced satellite/drone surveillance, and conducting intelligence-driven counter-insurgency operations.

Q26: We have lived in IDP camps for years and want to return home. How will you make our communities safe enough for us to return and rebuild our homes and lives? Answer: Security forces will clear and secure affected regions, establishing permanent Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) and civil protection posts before organized civilian resettlement begins. Q27: Displaced families have lost farms, livelihoods and children's education. What support will you provide to help them restart their lives? Answer: Returning families will receive rebuilding grants, basic household assets, starter seeds and tools, micro-loans, and immediate restoration of basic health centers and schools. Q28: How will you ensure that money, food and assistance intended for IDPs actually reach displaced people rather than being diverted?

Q30: Many intelligent students cannot afford university or even remain in school because their families are poor. What financial support will your government provide? Answer: My administration will provide non-repayable scholarships, grants, and bursaries instead of forcing students into debt, while forgiving existing student loan obligations and directly reducing university tuition costs for low-income families.

The Tinubu administration has proven, time and again, to be utterly incapable, wholly incompetent, and completely devoid of any coherent ideas for tackling Nigeria’s deepening security crisis. This is not just my position — it is a growing consensus among political opposition leaders, respected security experts, and even members within the ruling party who, though too timid to speak publicly, confess this uncomfortable truth behind closed doors. The blood of innocent Nigerians continues to be spilled with appalling regularity—most recently in the Logo and Gbagir communities of Ukum LGA in Benue State. Yet, the Tinubu presidency remains disturbingly indifferent, displaying neither urgency nor the basic decency of public empathy. Leadership demands presence. In 2016, President Barack Obama cut short an important diplomatic visit to return home after five police officers were killed in a lone gunman attack. In 2019, President Cyril Ramaphosa abandoned a state visit to Egypt to return to South Africa amid an electricity crisis. Even U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, heavily criticized for fleeing to Mexico during a deadly winter storm in Texas, eventually returned and acknowledged his mistake.

Tinubu’s Government Has Failed The People — Opposition Coalition Will Not Be Silent. In just two years, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has proven to be one of the most incompetent, disconnected, and anti-people governments in Nigeria’s democratic history. No previous administration has inflicted this level of hardship on the masses while showing such disregard for transparency, accountability, and responsible leadership. This government has not only deepened poverty across the country, but it has also set new records in wasteful public spending. At a time when millions of Nigerians are struggling to survive, government officials are living in excess and approving budgets that benefit the elite at the expense of the common man. It is sad that apart from being the poverty capital of the world, Nigeria has under this administration emerged as the unenviable position as the capital of malnourished children in Africa having beaten Sudan, a nation that is at war. According to the Global Hunger Index 2024, our country is one of the most affected by hunger and malnutrition, occupying the 18th position,

My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of adversely impacted by the tragic flooding that led to the loss of no less than 21 persons, several missing and thousands displaced in Tiffin Maza and Anguwan Hausawa communities in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State. Media reports indicate that the extent of the destruction; homes, farmlands, schools, and vital infrastructure is dire. The tragic situation in Mokwa serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for comprehensive and proactive flood management strategies across the country, especially with the forecasts of more flooding in the rainy season, which is just beginning. I commend the efforts of emergency responders and urge both state and federal authorities to intensify relief efforts and implement sustainable solutions to prevent such tragedies in the future. I stand in solidarity with the people of Niger State, especially those mourning loved ones. May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may those who are still missing be found and be reunited with their families. -AA

I am deeply disturbed by a report from @dwnews highlighting the humanitarian tragedy in Kankara, Katsina State, where over 10,000 people have been displaced, and more than 40 villages abandoned following renewed attacks by armed groups. This grim reality is a reminder that piecemeal peace arrangements are not enough. What we need is a holistic, intelligence-driven, and sustained security strategy that protects every Nigerian community and restores dignity to those who have lost everything. My heart goes out to the displaced families who now face unimaginable hardship. I call on both the Federal and State Governments to provide urgent relief, ensure accountability, and take decisive steps to guarantee lasting peace. Nigerians cannot continue to live as refugees within their own homeland. The time for real, coordinated action is now. -AA

Different languages. Different cultures. One reality. No Nigerian youth wakes up hoping for unemployment. No Nigerian parent dreams of sending a child to an unsafe school. No entrepreneur prays for higher inflation. No family wishes to live in fear. Our shared challenges must produce a shared purpose. The Nigeria we seek will never be built on ethnic suspicion or religious division. It will be built by citizens who understand that our diversity is a strength—not a weakness. In 2027, let us vote for competence. Let us vote for character. Let us vote for ideas. Let us vote for the future. Mandate Number Three: Become Builders of a New Nigeria. I ask you today not merely to support a candidate. I ask you to build a movement. A movement founded on ideas. A movement rooted in integrity. A movement committed to peaceful democratic change. Go back to your communities. Go back to your campuses. Go back to your workplaces.

TINUBU’S THIRD STRAIGHT UNGA ABSENCE: NIGERIA MUST NOT PAY FOR HIS AMERICAN BAGGAGE — ATIKU A seat was reportedly secured for Bola near United States President Donald Trump at the world’s most important annual diplomatic gathering. Yet, for the third consecutive year, Tinubu refused to occupy it. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has demanded a full explanation from President Tinubu over his repeated absence from the United Nations General Assembly, asking whether the President’s documented history with United States law-enforcement agencies has become a burden on Nigeria’s foreign relations. In a statement issued on Sunday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Mr Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said Tinubu stayed away from the 79th UNGA session in 2024, the 80th in 2025 and now the 81st in 2026, repeatedly sending Vice President Kashim Shettima to stand in for him. He said three consecutive absences could no longer be dismissed as coincidence or routine delegation but constituted a pattern of presidential evasion requiring an honest explanation.

On the strength of that democratic mandate, we will replace Tinubu’s policy of punishment with a policy of production, protection and affordability,” Atiku said. He called on President Tinubu to stop pretending that the suffering of Nigerians was an unavoidable price of reform and provide immediate relief during his remaining months in office. “The people have spoken. The 67.4 per cent is a vote against Tinubu’s cruelty and a mandate for Atiku’s alternative. “Tinubu made life expensive. Atiku will make life affordable again,” the statement concluded. Signed: Phrank Shaibu Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to Atiku Abubakar, Vice President of Nigeria 1999-2007 and Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress. 22nd September, 2026.

“Thirty-seven young Nigerians entered the custody of the state alive and did not return alive to their families. That tragedy demands truth, justice and accountability. “But beyond establishing what happened in that detention facility, we must also ask why so many of our young people are being pushed into dangerous and precarious livelihoods simply to survive.” Atiku said the deaths should force the Tinubu administration to reflect on the human consequences of economic policies that have placed enormous pressure on households and diminished opportunities for millions of young Nigerians. “When families can no longer afford the basics and young people are forced to take extraordinary risks just to earn a living, government cannot pretend that everything is working. “Economic reform must ultimately be measured by what it does to the lives of ordinary people. If life becomes progressively more difficult for families, workers and young people, then government has a responsibility to reconsider the choices producing those outcomes.”

My plan to tackle insecurity covers every part of Nigeria, the North West included. I am committed to setting up Anti-Banditry and Kidnapping Special Units in every state command, made up of highly trained, mobile personnel, to strengthen the response to banditry and kidnapping. I also want to adopt a firehose principle for security coordination, driving continuous, high-volume coordination across jurisdictions so we get faster responses and stronger intelligence sharing. On top of this, bordering states will jointly plan operations, share intelligence in real time, and coordinate responses, and I will push for an independent Internal Affairs Agency to investigate misconduct within police and other security services. This is how we rescue your community from banditry, kidnapping, and cross-border crime.

I want to adopt a firehose principle for security coordination, driving continuous, high-volume coordination across jurisdictions, so we get faster responses and stronger intelligence sharing. I will also push for an independent Internal Affairs Agency to investigate misconduct within police and other security services. I believe that with the right political leadership, Nigerian security forces have the capacity to take on the insecurity confronting this country.
