We urge the people not to be silenced. Raise your voices. Demand accountability. Demand justice. Demand a government that sees you, hears you, and protects you. History will not be kind to those who chose power over people. The time to act is now. -AA

Where competence triumphs over connections. Where justice triumphs over injustice. Where hope triumphs over despair. Where every child can dream without fear. Where every young person can succeed through hard work. Where every citizen can once again believe that government exists to serve the people. The task before us is great. But the Nigerian spirit is greater. The road ahead may not be easy. But no great nation was ever built by people who surrendered to despair. My dear young Nigerians, the future is not something we inherit. The future is something we build. Let history record that when Nigeria called, your generation answered. Let history remember that when democracy was tested, your generation defended it. Let history remember that when hope seemed to fade, your generation restored it. And let history remember that together, we rebuilt the promise of Nigeria. Nigeria does not need another miracle.

That is part of the Nigeria we must change—a Nigeria where there is one standard for those in power and another for everyone else. Now, I want everyone in this hall to do something else for me. Look to your left. Now look to your right. Remember the faces you have just seen, because the people sitting beside you are not strangers. They are your partners in one of the most important assignments before our generation: building a Nigeria that works for everyone. I stand before you today not simply as a presidential candidate asking for your support. I stand before you as a Nigerian who believes that our young people have waited long enough. For decades, young Nigerians have been told to be patient, to wait their turn, and to prepare themselves because they are the leaders of tomorrow. But tomorrow has been promised to Nigerian youths for too long. Your time is not tomorrow. Your time is now.

Atiku said Tinubu’s conduct presented a glaring contrast between the image he cultivated at home and the timidity he displayed on the international stage. “So why is Tinubu eternally paranoid about the global podium, especially when that podium stands in the United States? “Here is a President who professes tigritude at home, draped in an assortment of aliases, including ‘Jagaban,’ the leader of warriors in the Borgu Emirate, and ‘Asiwaju,’ the one who supposedly leads from the front, but who becomes a whimpering, lily-livered and timid chicken on the global stage. “Nigeria’s foreign standing has never been more miniaturised. Under Tinubu, the country rarely features prominently in continental leadership, the Commonwealth or world affairs. “His government deployed Nigerian fighter jets and troops to Benin Republic following the December 2025 attempted coup while bandits, terrorists and freelance criminals continued to terrorise Nigerians at home.
What would you say to South-East voters who believe that their region has been denied a fair opportunity to produce the president and why should they trust you? Atiku Abubakar: Answers to questions from the public 2026-10-05 ›
Question: What would you say to South-East voters who believe that their region has been denied a fair opportunity to produce the president and why should they trust you? Answer: I have said repeatedly that I represent the best political bridge to actualize the dream of a Southeast presidency. I make the assertion with all sense of modesty based on our shared history. The Southeast and the Northeast, where I come from, must work together within the framework of a pan-Nigerian project to lead negotiation for correcting the power-sharing imbalance in Nigeria. The clamour for Southeast presidency is as valid as the clamour for Northeast presidency. I believe that it is based on mutual understanding and cooperation that the Southeast and Northeast can achieve the goal of producing a president of Nigeria—neither can go it alone.

I believe in the idea of power rotation, and I have said we should give it constitutional backing. Looking at our experience since 1999, I see an imbalance in how political power has rotated between North and South, and I believe correcting that imbalance is part of what we must revisit in our attempt at restructuring the country. I have also said the Southeast and Northeast must work together, within a pan-Nigerian project, to lead negotiation for correcting this power-sharing imbalance, neither zone can achieve it alone.
