Ask Atiku Abubakar — Ikpo Okwu Izizi Maka Mmekọrịta na Ụmụ Amaala

Ị ga-emechi oghere (ọdịiche) dị n'etiti HND na akara ngụzi mahadum?

I don't have a specific plan laid out on bridging the HND and university degree dichotomy. What I can tell you is what I'm committed to on education more broadly, and I hope it shows the direction I intend to take.

I want to change how we prepare young Nigerians for work. Our schools, whether universities, polytechnics or colleges, must place greater emphasis on science, technology, vocational education, agriculture, digital skills, critical thinking and entrepreneurship. We cannot keep educating our young people for an economy that no longer exists.

As part of this, my administration will overhaul technical and vocational training in partnership with industry leaders, so that what is taught matches what jobs actually require. We will set up modern vocational training hubs across the zones, launch apprenticeship programmes, and standardize national skill certifications.

No brilliant Nigerian child should be denied university, polytechnic or college education simply because his or her parents are poor. I see young Nigerians, whatever certificate they hold, as the greatest national asset Nigeria has ever produced, and I believe no President can rebuild Nigeria without their active participation.
