Why are businesses paying such high interest rates right now?
That money was spent in the dark, by unaccountable hands, on undisclosed purposes, beyond the reach of you and your elected representatives. Had it instead been transparently appropriated and deployed as part of a structured economic stimulus programme, your business would not be drowning in 35 percent interest rates. The naira would not be at levels that make importing basic inputs prohibitively expensive for manufacturers, and unemployment would not be fuelling insecurity, emigration, and social despair across every part of this country.

It was simply being spent in the dark, by unaccountable hands, on undisclosed purposes, beyond the reach of the Nigerian public and their elected representatives. Had that money been transparently appropriated and deployed as part of a structured economic stimulus programme, Nigerian businesses would not be drowning in 35 percent interest rates. The naira would not be trading at levels that make the importation of basic inputs prohibitively expensive for manufacturers. Unemployment would not be at the catastrophic levels that are fuelling insecurity, emigration, and social despair across every geopolitical zone of this country.
