On your first question, about tackling hardship, insecurity, and graduate unemployment: my plan is clear. End insecurity, bring down the cost of living, create opportunities for every Nigerian, and uphold the rule of law. I have the experience to do this. I led the reforms that returned loss-making government companies to private hands and opened our economy to private investment. I served in the Customs Service from 1969 to 1986, and I have built businesses that today employ thousands of Nigerians, so I know how jobs are created.
On security specifically, I am determined to strengthen the response to banditry and kidnapping by establishing Anti-Banditry and Kidnapping Special Units in every state command, made up of highly trained and mobile personnel. I will also drive continuous, high-volume coordination across jurisdictions, both internally and externally, so that bordering states can jointly plan and execute security operations, share intelligence in real time, and coordinate responses to threats. We will also strengthen security cooperation with Nigeria's neighbours on threats like banditry, kidnapping, and cross-border crime.
On graduate unemployment and youth opportunity, I believe in the Nigerian youth, your intelligence, your creativity, and your resilience. This election is about restoring hope, rebuilding confidence, and creating opportunities, so that no young Nigerian feels compelled to abandon the country of his birth in search of dignity elsewhere. Young Nigerians do not need a government that teaches them how to survive hardship. They need a government that gives them the opportunity to prosper. On NYSC, I will prioritize NYSC graduates in recruitment for critical public service roles, including the police, military, and other government institutions, where applicable, and deploy corps members to communities and sectors where their skills are most needed, particularly in education, healthcare, agriculture, and public service delivery.
On your second question, about NYSC allowance and minimum wage: I have not set out a figure for raising the NYSC allowance or the minimum wage. What I have said is that I will make participation in NYSC voluntary, allowing young Nigerians to choose pathways that align with their goals and national priorities, with an annual cap on participation to ensure quality and proper deployment.
On your third question, about assurance of better governance and lasting change: I have told young Nigerians that the change they desire can only come through the ballot, and I have encouraged them not to give up. This election is not merely about changing a government, it is about changing the direction of our country, restoring hope, and creating opportunities, a place where competence matters more than connections, character matters more than political patronage, and hard work is rewarded, with every young Nigerian given a fair opportunity to succeed.
