Kí nìdí tí àwọn oníṣòwò fi ń san èlé tí ó ga báyìí?
Owó yẹn ni a ná ní ìkọ̀kọ̀, láti ọwọ́ àwọn tí a kò lè bi léèrè, fún àwọn ète tí a kò ṣí payá, tí ó sì jìnnà sí ọwọ́ rẹ àti àwọn aṣojú rẹ tí a dìbò yàn. Tí ó bá jẹ́ pé ní àyè bẹ́ẹ̀, a fi payá gbà á lẹ́nu iṣẹ́ tí a sì lò gẹ́gẹ́ bí apá kan ètò ìgbéga ọrọ̀-ajé tí a ṣètò dáradára, iṣẹ́ òwò rẹ kì bá ti wà nínú omi 35 pọ́sẹ́ǹtì ti àwọn gbèsè olówó iyebíye. Náírà kì bá ti wà ní ipele tí ó mú kí rírà àwọn ohun-èlò ìpìlẹ̀ di ohun tí ó wọ́n jù fún àwọn olùṣe-ọjà, àìríṣẹ́-ṣe kì bá sì ti ń mú àìléwu, ìṣípò-padà sí ilẹ̀ òkèèrè, àti àìnírètí láwùjọ gbòde sí gbogbo apá ilẹ̀ yìí.
Àwọn ìdáhùn tó wà lórí ojú-ìwé yìí ni a túmọ̀ láti èdè Gẹ̀ẹ́sì nípasẹ̀ ẹ̀rọ, kò sì tíì ṣàyẹ̀wò rẹ̀ láti ọwọ́ atúmọ̀-èdè kan.

It was simply being spent in the dark, by unaccountable hands, on undisclosed purposes, beyond the reach of the Nigerian public and their elected representatives. Had that money been transparently appropriated and deployed as part of a structured economic stimulus programme, Nigerian businesses would not be drowning in 35 percent interest rates. The naira would not be trading at levels that make the importation of basic inputs prohibitively expensive for manufacturers. Unemployment would not be at the catastrophic levels that are fuelling insecurity, emigration, and social despair across every geopolitical zone of this country.
